Often (always) with weddings, I want everything to be perfect. Perfect weather. Perfect light. Perfect day. And sometimes things don’t go according to plan. Sometimes life has other plans, going about it’s life business; Mother Nature doing her thing. And sometimes, that perfect randomness, of rain in summertime, and dark clouds in August, make the experience richer. More present and real and certainly, very tangible. We weren’t expecting rain. I was planning on sun, and shine, and golden light. But what we got was life; romantic, messy and beautiful. Where you feel the wet earth through your shoes, and warmth comes from the one you love and not the sun above. I love this session, for the very unexpected nature of it. From Katie and Chris’s absolutely nonplussed, adventurous spirit, an attitude that said, “Let’s do this!,” to their absolute perfect contentedness in each other. So we climbed mountains in the rain and wind. It feels apropos during this changing fall season, when we expect sunny days one minute and stormy grey the next. Katie and Chris approach life with a kindness and gameness that I know will take them on many adventures. You have to give mad props to a couple that went backpacking across America’s National Parks together. Plus, after the rain, you always get the best sunsets.
Thank you Katie and Chris for the wonderfulness that is you, times two.
